Kelley Picnic

On June 25th (I think), we had a Kelley get-together.  The main reason was that Grandma Lucille's ashes had come back and there was going to be a little graveside service.  It stormed super bad as we drove from Carthage to Nauvoo and once in Nauvoo things were dicey.  We had to wait in the cars until there was a break in the clouds to do the service.  That break came and there was a nice, intimate service with just family.  I ended up in the car for most of that with the little ones.  Vivi had to eat and we didn't want to drag the littles out to get all wet and muddy.  After that the weather stayed mostly nice.  We had a pot luck picnic at the Park District.  Jenny and Chris brought some cute little caprese appetizers that were super yummy!

We hung out and visited but, soon the clouds returned.  We had to move the gathering to Debbie and Pat's.  We all visited some more and then went our separate ways.  It was a great day.
I know that I blogged about our drive home after this event though.  It's when we ended up stuck at my mom's house.  It was crazy. That post is probably back in the actual month of June, lol!

15th Anniversary Tattoos

Well, I said back in June that I would get pics up of the tattoos that we got when we went to Indianapolis for our 15th wedding anniversary.  The move and the business of the summer has gotten me SO dang behind.  I am slowly going to catch back up.  Anyway, we both got an infinity symbol with each others names and our wedding date on the inside of our forearms.  Mine was still healing when I took the pics.  I plan to add more to mine....just a couple more swirlies and maybe a tiny flower or two.   I love having this constant reminder in my line of vision every single day.  I like it more and more each day.

We were both supposed to get two tattoos the day we went.  A couples tattoo and then one of our choosing.  We ended up only having time for the couples and one other.  I let Jeremy get it since I already have two other tattoos and he had none. He chose a celtic dragon with a celtic knot.  I love it!  And so does he.  It took about four hours to do.  The detail is great!  And it healed perfectly!

We will be going back to Indy for our other tattoos as well.  It may be a drive but, they are GOOD.  And with something that is permanently on your body, quality is imperative.  The guy that owns the tattoo shop is featured in tattoo magazines all the time and travels all around the country showcasing his work.  We didn't get in with him this time but, he only hires/apprentices those that are very good.  So, I trust that.  I haven't seen any comparable work in the area.

Eden's 4th Birthday

We had a small gathering for Eden's birthday too.  We had family and a few friends come by and just hang out.  We cooked out and filled the pool, let the kids run around, ate, had ice cream cake from DQ, and opened presents.

Pat seemed to like our new grill we got Jeremy for Father's Day this year!  We're glad when he shows up to parties so we can have him do the grillin' for us! LOL! He's just so good at it!

Eden got some cute stuff for her birthday.  She loves goggles and when I saw these that were Sofia the First princess themed, I had to get them for her!  And lookie there, she freaking loved them! Score! She got lots of dress up clothes and toys.  She was a pretty happy little lady that day.  I told Eden a couple of days ago: "I love you, Eden Rose."  She replied with: "I love you too, Mama Rose."
She makes my heart happy!

Tristan's 14th Birthday

Tristan is freaking 14 years old!?!?!? Huh, when the heck did that happen?!?!  It feels surreal that I have a child that is taller than me and getting so big and old, lol! His birthday was super simple.  We took just him out to eat at the mexican restaurant in Hamilton.  He requested it.  He ordered some shrimp dish and when he got it is was SUPER hot.  Well, it was called diablo something or other so, I guess he could have figured it out but, he didn't think about it.  He tried to say he would just eat it but, we soon realized that he couldn't.  I didn't want his birthday meal to suck so we said we would order him another meal and just take the diablo shrimp home and make it into something else.  Well, the waiter was great and got us a new meal and gave us the shrimp for free!  Sweet!  We never did end up eating it but, we didn't have to pay for it either.
We came home and watched a movie together and then went to bed.  I cannot remember when we had cake and ice cream for him....how bad is that!?!? But, I do know that he got presents from family and everyone wished him a happy birthday!  I love this kid of mine!

Asher's 8th Birthday

For Asher's 8th birthday we tried to something fairly simple.  (We attempted this with all the kids birthdays this year.) We had a day with just Asher and Mom and Dad.  We headed to Burlington in the morning to go to Fun City.  We were gonna play some games and have some fun....and so we did!

They were being silly all day long!

We ate some lunch at the Bugaloo Cafe.  Asher got hamburger sliders and fries.  He likes going out to eat.  After we ate, we went to buy a game card to play games.  Jeremy found two cards he had in his wallet and we asked the lady to see if there was anything left on them.  Somehow, magically, there was over $60 between the two cards!! What the what!?!?!?  Still don't know how that happened but, whatever, we just took advantage of that and didn't spend any extra money! Woot!

They played a few rounds of air hockey.  Fun!

We waited in line FOREVER for Asher to get to go on the go-carts.  Finally after waiting for like 20 minutes we had to leave without going on the go-carts because we were going to be late for the movie at the theater.  We went to see Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.  It was REALLY good and we all three really enjoyed it!

Then off to target to do some present shopping!  He picked out a lego set, a Minecraft sword, and a new shirt.  Maybe a couple of other things that I don't remember.
(see, this is what happens when you don't blog soon enough to the event.)

After Target we went to Grandma Kelley's house and had cake and ice cream with the rest of the family.  We turned this into a joint birthday celebration for Owen and Asher since their birthdays are three days apart.  Which was fine and dandy.
I think both boys had a good time.  It was simple and sweet.

The cake we picked up on the way home had some issues, lol!  But, whatever.  No one seemed to mind.
I cannot believe that my kiddos are getting so big and old, lol! I love you Asher Lincoln, I hope your life is full of many, many, happy birthdays!

Boyer Reunion 2014

Boyer Reunion was at the beginning of August.  Since we skipped the reunion last year we made a point to be there this year.  We basically just eat and leave anyway so we knew it wouldn't take up the entire day.  I remember when I first met Jeremy, I thought Boyer Reunion was a joke because it was a bunch of people that see each other quite a bit anyway, gathering to have a picnic at a park.  So, to me, it wasn't really a "reunion".  At my family reunions, it was always a HUGE event, with tons of people that you don't see too often, doing tons of activities together usually for at least two days.  So, I guess I was underwhelmed at the Boyer Reunion, lol!
But, it is always a good time with family and lots of good food
There didn't seem to be a huge turnout this year but, maybe next year.

Anyway, the kids had a good time on this giant pile of rocks that was there for the driveway I am guessing.  We had some dirty little kiddies that day.

I didn't get as many good pictures as I would have liked since my battery died pretty early on.  I hadn't checked it beforehand so it was my own dang fault.

This is Jeremy's cousin, Wesley, and his wife Dana and their three girls.  Mackenzie, Mallory, and Miley.  They came the furthest when they drove from Chicago.  Also pictured is Grandma and Grandpa Boyer.
