Awesome Things

Today we are gearing up and bracing for a winter storm of historical preportions!  I think it's gonna be like a little adventure for us!  We've got food ready, activities, and emergency supplies just in case.  I think I'm gonna introduce some of our family with the kids in The Sound of Music!  I think they will like the fact that we are related!
So when we have babies we always donate our cord blood to St. Louis Cord Blood Bank.  Usually we donate they always comment on what a good donations we make.  As in that there are a lot of healthy cells and everything looks very good.  Well, I got a call yesterday saying that Eden's cord blood was identified to be a possible match for a child with leukemia that needs a cord blood transplant!  They wanted to check up and see how Eden is doing and make sure that she is still healthy and everything.  I said yes and answered all their questions.  It is so thrilling to know that it might actually help save a child's life!  It just gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!  Aren't we truly blessed in this day and age to have made the medical advances that we have?  It's walking a fine line with some of the more atrocious things we can do with the medical field as well (i.e. abortions, cloning, etc.).  When something like this happens though you know that it is all for a good purpose.

Saturdays Smell Super

I really want to go to Mardi Gras for my birthday.  Fat Tuesday is on March 8th....just four little days before my birthday.  I told Jeremy last night that I would like to do something called 365 Days of New Discoveries.  Every day I want to do something I have never done before.  Some days could be as simple as trying a new food I have never eaten.  Other days could be going to Mardi Gras for my birthday.  It's a cultural tradition that has been and will probably be around for a long time.  I want to be a part of it before I die.  Yes.  Freaking Mardi Gras!

I want to take the boys camping a lot this summer.  I want to go fishing and filet a fish all by myself even though I may be deeply disturbed after doing so.  I want to go to Yellowstone and see Old Faithful.  I want to try caviar.  I want to have a hydroponic garden.

I am fairly sure that Cullen may be mildly addicted to the new Cinnamon Burst Cheerios.  I find him in the cereal cabinet ALL the time...stealing the cheerios.  When I walk in he usually looks at me with some super cute expression and says "rul-rul" (which is cereal).

The other day I completely flipped out on the boys and it resulted in my taking all electronics out of their bedrooms and grounding them from my computer and the t.v., wii, and playstation 3 that is in the living room.  We took the xbox 360 to Grandma Trapp's house.  I took the other playstation 3 out of my bedroom, (left the playstation 2 that is in my room though), took the computer out of Tristan's room, including the monitor which was their television, took Ced and Liam's t.v. and games, and I took all the PSP's away too!  And you know what?!?!?!  I think I like life better without all that crap.  They can't fight over it now, can they?  But, I do hear a lot of "when do we get such and such back?"

And I think I'm going to become a krazy coupon lady follower.  I think the teachings would be beneficial for a family of my size.....

These Are the Days of My Life

Jeremy got back from the dentist with T-dog.  Apparently it was the same tooth he broke last time and this time they charged us double to fix it!!!  UGH.

So today will also go down in history for another reason.  Cullen has figured out how to get out of his crib.  Oh his perfect sleeping habits are gone, gone, gone.  But, now I can put the new girly bedding in it that Grandma Kelley got for lil miss Eden Rose for Christmas!  I'm gonna move Cullen into a toddler bed and maybe we'll try Eden in the crib for a few naps here and there.  Just need to get my monitor first.

Another Day

Yesterday, our van broke down while Jeremy was taking the kids to school.  Right in front of the circle drive, blocking traffic at the Primary School.  Luckily Scott Bentzinger is a friend of Jeremy's and also the county deputy or something and he rescued Jeremy.  Tyson came to tow the van away.  So today I have no vehicle to get around in and the school calls and tells us that Tristan boke his front tooth off!  Now, he did this exact same thing not too long ago....only to the other front tooth!  Oy!  So, Jeremy had to hurry and get to Burlington where the children's dental place is gonna squeeze him in so we can hopefully save the tooth.  And Sarah is driving to Carthage all the way from Hamilton to pick up Liam and Ced from school.  sheesh.  It's almost comical how when one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong! lol!

Eden has just been too cute recently.  She's started rolling a couple of months ago but only did it occasionally.  And she went from back to front first which none of my boys ever did.  Now she goes both ways but still prefers her back to tummy time.  She's not really too big a fan of rolling but she does like to pivot in circles!  She also loves the new jumperoo!  We had a big jumperoo/entertainer fiasco but finally ended up with one even though we didn't really need it apparently.  We have the fisher price (luv u zoo) one.  It's so cute because she will get a couple really good bounces in with both feet, then hold both feet up and let herself bounce until she stops!  Then she repeats it over and over.  She likes to grab for things.  Anything that comes near her actually.  She really studies things too.  Her favorite is blowing raspberries and making bubbles on her lips.  This was one of Tristan's favorite things as a baby too.

Stinkers

This snow is awful.  I've been looking at houses in Arizona all week long.  No snow there.  And some great housing prices since Phoenix was one of the top 4 worst hit cities in the housing crisis.  What a depressing place this place is.  The midwest, I mean.  UGH.  As soon as I am able, I am outta here!
Today, we made a deal with the boys that if they cleaned their rooms and the hallway, stairs, and living room, that we would take them out to see a matinee at the movie theater.  Only two of them made it.  Lazy bums. So Tristan, Asher, and I headed out to Macomb to see Yogi Bear.  There was a horrendous woman that showed up next to me about 10 minutes into the movie and it makes me puke a little just thinking about her.  I don't even want to talk about how stupid, smelly, and rude she was.  Wretched lady.
The boys enjoyed the movie.  I thought it to be cheesy and boring.  And I used to love Yogi Bear as a child.  Anyway, we went to walmart after and got makings for banana french toast.  It was snowing like mad on the way home and I had to drive very slow on the freeway.  I hate that.  It is inherently wrong.  Then half of the boys wouldn't even eat the french toast.  Oh well.  Empty tummies for them I guess.

Some GOOD news.  My mother got out of the hospital this morning.  She will need some help but it all looks positive.  Thank God for that.  We love her!
Are you freaking kidding me?!?!!? Is this my life!?!?!?!

Update on Mom

I was gonna take a pic of my mom last night to blog about but she was still kinda out of it and I felt bad.  And even though my blog is private (I'm up to 49 readers) I would still have felt bad posting it.  Anyway, they took my mom into surgery around 430.  Vicki and I waited there and we waited and waited and waited some more.  Finally she got out of surgery around 10ish and we got to see her a while after that.  The doctor said it was a very bad break.  She had broken her femur and about 2 inches of it was gone, disintegrated into bone dust!  Then the bone that encircles the knee cap was broken into two pieces.  And lots of little shattered pieces like the pieces to a broken light bulb is what the doctor described it like.  But, he said he got it all put back together.  He used a titanium plate, 20 some odd screws, and some bone graft for the missing parts.
When we saw her she was still coming out of it and wasn't making a whole lot of sense.  Some of it was hilarious!  She was on a mission to plant some pumpkins at one point! haha!  I called her this morning and she doesn't even remember us being there!  Oh well.  She's got a lot of recovery and healing to do.  I'm just thankful that she's okay and still here with us.

Yikes!

Was woken up early this morning with a phone call from my sister.  It was like a flash back to when I found out that my dad was hurt and he later died.  Anyway, I didn't answer and she texted me that my mom was being taken by ambulance to Burlington.  She fell.  So I called back quick and found out that she fell on her steps outside in the ice.  Thank goodness she had her cell phone because otherwise she would have frozen to death on those steps outside. It's her femur they think and it's an open fracture which means that there is bone sticking out!!  Crap Almighty!  Now I'm worried sick.  Everyone here is already ill and now this.  I'm waiting on a phone call to see what I need to do next.  Nerve wracking!

Summary

Will she be like her mother and suck her thumb???

Tyson and Vanessa got Eden this cute little coat and hat for Christmas...I LOVE it !!! She looks like a little snow princess!

So a quick summary of the holidays is that they turned out awesome!  The holidays always make me feel closer to my family and friends and you realize what life is all about.  I need to let my brothers and sisters know just how grateful I am for them and how much I love them!  They did some pretty amazing stuff for my "little" family this year and we wouldn't have had the same Christmas we did without them!

This year one of my goals is to always be grateful for the things that I have in my life.  I tend to be a pessimist and it must stop!  So I am grateful for a roof over my head, for clothes for my children to wear, food to eat, and a car to drive.  What wonderful blessings!

A Shout-Out To The BEST DAD EVER!

Today is my Dad's birthday.  He would have been 73 years old.  Happy Birthday Dad!  I think I need to go find some pistachio ice cream to celebrate.....LOVE YOU DAD!

Lunch With Bullseye

Cullen got a ste of Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Bullseye for Christmas.  He LOVES them!  He watches Toy Story 1,2 or 3 everyday and plays with these guys constantly!  He even has lunch with them!  Really, every day he has his tray lined up with all of them and I have to convince him to move some of them to fit his food on the tray too.  This day he had lunch with Bullseye.  Poor Bullseye lost his front leg the other day though and Cullen is really bummed.  He tries so hard to still balance him and let Woody and Jessie ride.  We might have to invest in another Bullseye.....anyway, they also go in the bath with him too!  I think he has made some friends for life!

New Years 2011

Asher got a Buzz Lightyear tool belt for Christmas and he seems to think that he can stuff it full of whatever he finds laying around!  It's the funniest thing because he has to hold everything in there himself.  Why doesn't he just carry it?!?!  haha!
This is Eden hidden in amongst her new friends she got for Christmas.  The little pink doll from Grandma Trapp is her favorite.  It has little butterfly wings that crinkle and she thinks it's just great.  We are still trying to come up with a name for it though.
It's getting to be a tradition that we host a New Year's Party.  This year we had Jon and Nicky Cote, Jed and Brielle Hill, Trisha and Josh, and Tyson and Vanessa.  We started out by having dinner at the new mexican eatery on the square, Los Charros.  It was yummy!  Then back to our house for games and the wii!  We played Apples to Apples....the right way this time.  Thanks Brielle!  So glad to start a New Year fresh!  Happy 2011!!!!!

A Christmas of Our Very Own

Christmas morning was great after an awful Christmas Eve night!  I didn't get many pictures because too much was going on.  Cullen and Eden did NOT want to be awake!  Anyway, I was surprised to find two teddy bears under the tree!  It was the cutest thing I had ever seen!  Jeremy had gotten lil miss Eden Rose two Christmas bears to start her tradition and collection!  I hadn't even thought about that!  See, as I was growing up I got a new Christmas bear or a set of bears every Christmas.  I had a lot of them.  When Jeremy and I got married, he took over and kept getting me bears every year for Christmas.  Then two days after Christmas in 2003 my parents house caught fire and burnt to the ground.  They had all my bears at their house because at the time our apartment was too small for the plethora of bears.  So, no more Christmas bears for me!  It was so sad.  I wish I had taken a picture of them all.  But, then all the pictures burnt in the fire too.  *sigh*  Now my baby girl can have her own collection of bears......

Christmas Day we opened gifts.  Jeremy got me an awesome Pink Floyd jacket that I had my eye on when we went to the concert!!! I LOVE it!!!  He also got me the weed wacker that I have been asking for years for!  It's craftsman and battery powered.  Sweet! And other things too..... The kids made out like bandits!  Especially in the lego department!

A Merry Trapp Christmas To You 2010

Daxton was out like a light.

The  day after Christmas was the Trapp Christmas.  We had a really good time.  We ate and exchanged gifts....Santa Claus left a sack of presents at the door too!  I got to meet my nephew, Chris's wife and son, whom I had never met before!  And I hadn't seen Chris in probably 10 years or more.....it was great to see them again!  Then Cullen fell in the living room and cut his open really bad on whose knows what!  I have never seen so much blood in my life!  Head wounds always bleed a lot because it's our bodies way of protecting the brain from infection but, I seriously about lost it with the amount of blood!  The poor kid was so scared!  I felt so bad.  So, Jeremy, my mom, and I all headed to the Blessing Hospital.  And after about 4 hours and 5 stitches later we finally got home.  We ended the Christmas festivities with a bang!  Something I don't want to do again!
