A couple of weeks ago, right before school one morning, Tristan had told me that he had a sore throat and an earache. I gave him some Excedrin Migraine ( he said he felt a migraine coming on too), a heating pad for his ear, and told him to go upstairs to bed. We got the rest of the kids off to school and Jeremy had just left for the day when Tristan wandered back into the living room and stood next to the couch. The next five or ten minutes were crazy! I wish I had recorded the whole incident because then I would remember everything he said and did. But, I didn't. Anyway, he stood by the couch and and started talking incoherently, swaying, and looking drunk. I kept asking him questions and he couldn't get the right words out and his speech was slurred. I thought he was having a stroke! He couldn't hardly stand up after that and couldn't get dressed for himself or anthing! I asked him if he remembered his name and he drunkenly got Tristan out and had trouble with his middle and last name. I called Jeremy and told him to hurry home. He got here lickety split (thank goodness!) and took Tristan out to the E.R.
Thankfully it was not a stroke! The poor kid tested positive for strep throat and a severe ear infection. Apparently sometimes ear infections can throw off your balance, speech, and make you dilusional! They sent him home with a prescription and we had him confined to his room for three days so that no other kids would get it!! And it worked! No one else got it!! Woot!
But, it really scared me when the whole thing happened.
