On Tuesday I went to my regular doctor appointment. He measured me and declared: "Colista, you are measuring huge!" Two weeks earlier I had measured normal and then on Tuesday he said I measured like someone ready to give birth that day! He told me I would have to come in for an ultrasound.
So today I had to be in Quincy at the hospital at 7:00AM!!! with a full bladder of course. The baby looked so darn cute on the ultrasound. I saw him opening and closing his mouth and trying to wiggle all around! He face was all chubby and cute.
I got done there about 7:30. I had to be at my doctor's office at 10:00. So I took myself out to breakfast at Village Inn and had some Carribean Crepes...mmmmm...so good. I hate going into sit down restaurants along though...oh well. Then I sat in the mall parking lot and tried to read a book for a while. finally it was 10.
The doc told me that I have high levels of amniotic fluid, a condition called poly-something-or-other. Here is a link for info about that.

Apparently, it can be dangerous or not. I had borderline levels with Asher and he is okay although he came a wee bit early.
Also, he said that the baby is measuring too big for age, but he's not as concerned about that.
Then he said that the left ventricle of the baby's brain is enlarged. We don't know why this happens or what it means. Great. Here i a link I found about that.

I have to have another ultrasound in two weeks to check my progress. Hmmm...
i think everything is going to be fine. Jeremy is going to give me a blessing tonight.
Okay and I found out today that there is a correlation to heartburn during pregnancy and the amount of hair that the baby has! Who knew? The ultrasound lady asked if I'd had bad heartburn and I said, ya,like the worst ever! She said, you baby has lots of hair all over and then showed me the little wispies. Cute!

Wow, that's a lot of babying going on. ;)
I hope you and the little tyke make it out alright.
Colista....you are a trooper! I hope that cute baby comes sooner, rather than later for you! But I also hope that all goes well (trust me, pregnancy complications are NO fun) :-). I had heartburn too....but I don't think my babies were too hairy (hahaha). We are So excited to see you guys tomorrow. We love you guys!
That heartburn thing is such a myth, I gotta tell you. I worked as an RN in labor and delivery for 5 yrs. But if it works for u that's cool too. Your Dr is always the best to explain your condition to you, because he knows your history and can take things into context. It will be exciting when you have your baby- a miracle. I can't have anymore. I was thinking abt. getting a puppy, but I'm not as good with animals as I am with kids, but I suppose we can all learn. Got puppy advice?
Nope, sorry Corisse, I am definitely not a dog person!lol. I have an outdoor cat only policy! They take care of themselves, no work involved...perfect.
Darn
You sound so calm! My placenta was in the wrong place for part of my first pregnancy, but it moved on its own before labor. It sounds like both of these conditions can resolve on their own as well.
Which is worse, knowing or not knowing? I mean, if most of these problems resolve themselves, why worry the pregnant ladies?
I wonder why I am signed in as Jeremy?
this is colista
yeah, that's what I am wondering, Timapani. Why worry the pregnant ladies when we have enough going on emotionally anyway?!?!?
Cori- I didn't know u worked in labor and delivery! Did you love it or hate it? I think it would be amazing. I had a nurse with Asher that was the best ever. I still wish I had written some letter or something to her boss telling them what an amazing person she was!:)
I loved it. It was awesome to be part of something so amazing. But, I got burnt out after a awhile. You are always up at night, and it's really an emotionally draining job, so I quit a couple of yrs. ago to be with the kids full time (all three of them) :)
I'm so excited! I can have all of those babies I've always wanted vicariously through you! Haha! Thanks for that! :)
Hang in there! I'm so excited for you guys!
Colista, so good to hear from you! I'm glad I can catch up on you and your family on the blog! :-)
Sorry to hear about the complications with the baby.
I'll let Abi know about your blog (but she isn't much of an email or internet person).
Happy Day!
