It's Making Us Sick To Our Stomachs....Literally

I've mentioned the movie Food, Inc. on here before.  Honestly you NEED to watch it.  It will blow your mind.  Again today in the news is another salmonella outbreak in the Skippy brand peanut butter.  What is it going to take to stop all this.....do we need to have hundreds, thousands....millions of people die????
After watching this movie it changed the way I shop for for and the way I feed my family.  You can download it for free on netflix.
Dang it, half of the preview is cut off on the side....so go to www.foodincmovie.com to watch the trailer in full.  It's well worth your time, just do it.

I am watching it now. It's a bunch of communist propaganda. What bunch of anti capitalist BS. The workers are not "abused". No one is beating them with a belt. They choose to work there. McDonald's of course wants their beef to all taste the same. Do you want to go into a restaurant and have EVERY hamburger taste different than every other hamburger in the world? And specialization is good for the economy. It makes food cheap and readily available. And still it preserves your freedom of choice. You can still make your own food. grow a garden.

Think about it. A common bacteria, E-coli, can be killed by thoroughly cooking your meat. A two year old, after consuming 3 hamburgers, contracts E-coli and takes 12 days to die. This could have been avoided by cooking the burgers well. It could have been remedied by taking 5 drops of hydrogen peroxide mixed with water and flushing his gut. It could have been remedied by good medical care. Yet, what this film suggests is that the USDA, a federal overseer, be given blanket authority to shut down any plant it wishes to and also to extract greater tax money from we the people to fix this overblown problem. It's a communist idea. It's a communist philosophy. It's a communist takeover by playing to your sympathies and distoring the evidence and causing hysteria where there should only be compassionate understanding and self governance. If we were growing our own beef, raising our own chickens, we would still have to deal with the realities of life as they exist. Having a government bureaucrat do it for us will not make us any better off.

I do agree though, that subsidization is wrong. If companies were not subsidized to do the things they are doing, would they continue to do it? Heck no. They do it because they get a government incentive. And they hire illegals due to economic incentive. And the government gives them an incentive to do that too. It makes American labor SO expensive with union labor and minimum wage law, that companies are eager to cut corners. Remove the government from the equation, and you will have much happier economic equation. All the things that are "wrong" with capitalism, are due to government intervention, not to free market capitalism. We have not had free market capitalism since Teddy Roosevelt. We have had some form of collectivist bureaucratic economy.

I think I took different things from the movie than you did. I think the communist propaganda is the fact that they are telling us our food is safe to eat, nutritious, and real. When in fact is is not, not, not. And then making us buy and eat said food. Yes, we have the choice to have a garden but can I really grow my own wheat or soy beans and then process them all myself. Not likely.
