Happy Halloween!

I LOVED This Show!

Anyone remember waking up on Saturday mornings to watch this??  This was one of my all-time favorite cartoons.  I would never miss it!  My favorite was Uni the Unicorn.

K, so here is a funny story.  I was about 5 or so.  We lived in Quincy.  We had a big beautiful house with lots of land.  We had a HUGE garden, apple orchard, chickens, berries, etc.  There was also a big old willow tree that was my favorite.  I would pretend and play under that thing for hours.
So, my twin brothers, Matt and Mark, were in high school at the time.  They were to graduate in the year 1988.  (sidenote: MAN, They are OLD, huh?!?!lol)  One of them....or maybe both of them....had these clear glass keys that said Class of 1988 on it.  They keys were extra large...like probably 6 inches or so in length and about half an inch thick.  They were not meant to unlock anything (except maybe your future.....harharhar!).  Anyway, so anytime my ears would start ringing as a child, I thought it was Uni the Unicorn and the other unicorns from the Unicorn world calling me to the portal!  I would go take my brother's glass key and run under the willow tree, stick the key in the trunk somewhere and await my message from the Unicorns on the other side of the portal.  Because you see, the magical portal to the Unicorn World was located underneath MY willow tree.  Makes perfect sense.  To this day when my ears ring, I think of those poor unicorns trying to communicate with me....and I'm too old to listen.  *sigh*

Yes.

Poison Control Should Be On Speed Dial

This Friday, Asher decided to eat one of the berries in the yard. He knows better and it really scared him.  I think it is holly......but it could be a form of deadly nightshade called woody nightshade.  Both can be fatal. Luckily the kid only ate one and he threw up soon after.  But, I had to call poison control for the umpteenth time.  Thank goodness he was out there with his brothers and they reminded him of the poison capability.

To Help Or Not To Help, That Is The Question!

Eden, being the girl she is, just loves to sort laundry.  And redistribute it into other baskets.  It makes her smile which makes me happy even though she is hindering my laundry folding process.  Also, she gets frightened ever so easily.  All you have to do is make a strange sound or look at her the wrong way and she will be full on sobbing in two seconds flat.  And it's like real tears and everything.  Soothing her is different than it is for the boys.  She requires more time and assurance that all is really okay.  This can be both endearing and very annoying.  I'm trying very hard to be smitten by it today.  I feel sick.  I think I have an ulcer.

Freaking Camera

I fully expect my husband to get me a camera for Christmas.
I want Christmas to be today.

Family Time

Well, I was hoping that my niece would post some pics on Facebook that I could steal of last weekend but,s he hasn't yet so I'm just gonna wirte about it.  So on Friday my sister Ginny and her husband, Matt, came to Nauvoo from Idaho to get sealed in the Nauvoo Temple.  Also, Justine and Lauren were able to drive out as well with their babies!  Oh my goodness...so stinking cute!
Lauren has Sophia who is in first grade and Drew who is two.  Justine has Maddox who is two, Xayvian who is one, and is pregnant with another boy!  LOL!  I told her how it goes from there! haha!  My brother Mark and his wife, Karina were able to drive down from Chicago for the sealing.  We all had lunch together at Grandpa John's afterwards.  It was nice.
Then we all went to my mom's house and found my oldest nephew, Bryan(he is actually one month older than me!) and his wife(whom I had never met!)!!! Awesome!  I hadn't seen him since Jeremy and I lived in Salt Lake in 2001!!!! Holy crap! Ten years!! that is just ridiculous! We promised to see each other more! lol!
We had a reception at the RLDS campground that evening for Ginny and Matt!
It was so good to see my family.  We are so big and spread out that is hard for everyone to make it to everything all the time.
But, we all love each other just the same!!  Such a good weekend!

Kevin's Birthday!

One of the cool things I got to do this weekend was hang out with some of me(insert cute irish accent here) best friends in the whole world!  Me, Jeremy, Kevin, and Tuesday got together on Friday night for a late bday celebration for Kevin.  He was turning the big 18!  Again!  So we celebrated in style in Tuesday's sweet new Malibu and drove to Quincy for some Pizza Hut (hadn't had that in FOREVER!).  Nikki and Taylor met us at Pizza Hut and made the dining experience just that much better!  Afterwards Kevin, Tuesday, Jeremy, and I went somewhere awesome.  Yes.
There is a campground somewhere along the freeway on our way home from Quincy, near the Adams County Fairgrounds.  It is called Whispering Oaks Campground.  Spooky name.  So, at the campground there is a forest that is haunted.  A Haunted Forest.  Outside of it there is popcorn and drinks...also a giant wolf dressed as grandma and a red riding hood that is far too large in stature.  Maybe it was a woman...or a man...I don't know.

We paid our $5 and waited at the gate.  The wolf/grandma let us in.  I think Kevin was in front to start with.  I think I may have MADE Kevin go out in front because I didn't want to be first....or last....or not surrounded on all sides.  So I pretty much hid behind and in between people the whole time!  But, it was so fun!!! and Spooky!  The people in the forest were good at what they did and kept us on our toes.  I may have almost fell into a lake a time or two.
Some of the little goblin men started calling me "little girl"!! LOL!!  We had this one guy that followed us around for a long time.  I didn't want to look at him. It was freaking hilarious.  Tuesday got cornered a few times and laughed so hard I think she almost peed herself!! We all laughed so much we gave ourselves headaches!  Jeremy says that I stepped on some man in a corner too.  We really had a ton of fun!  I was freezing when I started the trail and sweating by the end. Fun, fun, fun!!

My Son Loves Me!

I have some pretty sweet kids.  Tristan had earned $30 when he helped Grandma Trapp.  He went to the book fair at his school and brought me home the HARDCOVER version of Mockingjay, the third book in the Hunger Games series.  I had been talking about it for awhile and he had already tried to get it from the library in town but, it was checked out.  It was so thoughtful of him to think of me when he was there buying books for himself!  I love him so much!  What a great kid!!!
Thank you, Tristan!  You ROCK!

From A Friend

~ God doesn't necessarily create difficult situations for us,
but He will use them to develop our character. ~

The Dangers Of Motherhood; Part 1

Today I threw my shoulder out while scrubbing the floor on my hands and knees AFTER I had nearly broken my wrist trying to get the stupid mop to work.  I want a self cleaning floor.
They make self cleaning ovens.....come on people, take the next step!

The Kid Was Lying, But I Wasn't

Pike Co. boy apologizes for lying about mountain lion attack - WGEM.com: Quincy News, Weather, Sports, and Radio

A few people called this when the story first came out. Just because one little boy lies about it doesn't mean there aren't big cats creeping into the surrounding area. I know I saw some big cat...freaky stuff.

The Hunger Games

Last night Eden slept horribly.  She's been sick and on an antibiotic.  As per ususal with the antibiotics (amoxicillin) she has gotten worse before she gets better.  And I hate it when they are sick so young because there is not a whole lot you can give them.....although I think I will do another post of beneficial things for sick babies.  Anyway, I didn't sleep much last night.
Finally I just decided to quit trying to sleep and read instead.  I finished the last half of the second book, Catching Fire.  It's a cliffhanger ending and now I MUST read the third book today.  I think a trip to the library is in store for me.

Milk and Honey

Lately I've been making some warmed milk to drink at bedtime.  I add a little bit of honey and a few dashes of nutmeg and it's mmmm so good.  And relaxing.  If I'm feeling indulgent I will use vitamin D milk.  We have it in the house right now for Eden.  Typically we are a skim milk family all the way.  But the babies always get the vitamin D for obvious reasons.
Anywho, typically I think vit.D milk is too thick but when it's warmed up with honey and nutmeg, it's kinda like a vanilla cocoa.  Hey!  Maybe I should add some vanilla bean!
Now, that sounds really yummy!

So I finally started reading the Hunger Games series.  I've been wanting to for a long time.  I just finally decided to do it because movies are being made about them that I will probably want to watch (if I ever make it to the movies again with my crazy busy life!lol!) and I will have wanted to have read the books first.  So I started last week and I'm at the end of the second book.
I LOVE these books!!  I'm definitely hooked.  Also reading is very relaxing as well.
Especially at bedtime after you've had a hot cup of milk with honey and nutmeg......and potentially vanilla bean.  I haven't been getting as much reading done since starting the whole milk thing though.

Time Travel

Jeremy and I haven't done anything fun together in a long time!  We've been so busy the past few months, all of our date nights get turned into errand nights.  Or grocery shopping nights.  Or some other stupid thing we have to do nights.  Ugh.
Why can't there be more time?!?!?!  Or why can't someone figure out time travel?  I know it's possible....we just need some great mind to think it up.  Then I could go back and do all the things I never get done.
Today I have been getting lots of stuff done though.  The bad side of that is that then I don't get to pay much attention to Cullen and Eden.  Catch 22!  Again with the time travel.
Someone out there invent it already!!

A Day Out With Thomas The Tank Engine 2004

Jeremy, Tristan, Sir Topham Hatt, Cedric, Me, and little Liam in my tummy (about 7 months).

A Dream come True!

He's so tiny! Awww.
Now, I think I will have to do separate books for all the old stuff or something.....anyway.  This was a ton of fun and something that we would like to do again with all the kids before they are all too big.  For Tristan's 4th birthday in August of 2004 we got tickets to A Day Out With Thomas the Tank Engine in Chicago.  Tristan and Cedric had so much fun!  It really was cool.  It was at an old train station and there was all kinds of engines and boxcars too.  And tons of activities for the kids.  And always the greatly overpriced souvenir stand as well.

This Girl Is TOO Cute

This cute little piece of headgear may end up as part of her costume.  For her costume this year she will be CUTE.  As in the embodiment of CUTENESS.  Or something like that.
And yes, she actually wore it too!   Then she fell asleep with them on....this is not staged! LOL!

Cedric as a Freaking Cute Lil Buddy

Cedric aged 1
He's actually probably about 15-18 months in these pics
Cute Cedric

Been waxing nostalgic today.  I figured I should put some old pictures on my blog too since I print it into a book for posterity.  This is when we were living in an apartment in Nauvoo circa 2003ish.  It's so fun to look back at these pics though....it already seems like it was so long ago!  *sigh*

Back In The Day

Tristan the Lion

I was going through my old pics folder on the computer and found some of Tristan when he was three years old, in his first year of pre-k.  What's funny is that I had like 20 pictures of him walking in the halloween parade that was like two blocks long!  What a little cutie!  You can also tell how digital cameras have progressed! lol!

It Couldn't Have Been ME?!?!?!

Well don't I feel sheepish!  I told the kids and everyone else that I was sure that there was school today because I had written all the dates down in my calendar at the beginning of the school year.  Well, the school decided to pull a fast one on me and actually NOT have school on Columbus Day....like the rest of the normal schools in this country.  Anyway, so the kids are all home today.  Yep.  That's it.

Cullen Turns 3!

Aunt Trisha made Cullen's cake and cupcakes because I had to work all day long! :(  But, they turned out awesome!  It was really simple and cute and yummy!

Singing to Cullen

Blowing out the candles!

Our little Cullen turned three years old on September 25th.  Grandma Kelley and Trisha threw a party together for me because I had to work.  Cullen had fun!  We ate cookout food and had cake and ice cream.  Cullen's vocabulary had increased like crazy!  He pretty much will repeat any thing we say....so we have to watch our mouths! haha!  Which isn't always easy for me!  I love that little guy.  He makes me smile all the time and he is my #1 cuddle bug!

Eden Turns 1!!

Froo Froo

Our Eden Rose on her birthday!
I am so behind on blogging.  Not having a camera is putting a hinder on things.  anyway, here are some pics Trisha took of Froo on her first birthday.  We celebrated on August 27th at our house.  Joanne made her a cupcake cake.  It turned out so cute!!  Eden was very neat with her cake.....at least the part I saw.  Jeremy said she really dug in after I went in the house to check on food.
That year flew by!  I feel so grateful to have a baby girl.  She really is a ton of fun!  And her little personality is too cute!  I love that girl of mine!!!

If one more person.......

My kids do not have to take "x amount of bites".  They either eat or or they don't.  We let the consequences do the teaching. And because they are not spoiled little brats, they don't complain about it either.

The past month and a half of my life needs to be erased and re-written.  "Good Grief" as Charlie Brown would say.
